    Killer damning jazz sounds, man! I hate how RUclips's algorithm still sucks so much that it hadn't recommended your channel in my feed after all these years online, and I found it while searching for title keywords instead of relativity and your music ...✌️🔥

      @jamieholroydguitar I think I figured out something and it goes G7 C7 F7 Bb7 Eb7 so on. Is it a 1 4 5 thing. I'm sure you can explain it better. I'm late to the jazz game.

      @jamieholroydguitar You're right. It's moving in 4ths and follows that 3 5 1 b7 and 3 2 1 b7 pattern. That's pretty dang neat! What would the pattern be to make it move in 5ths?

    • @paulsamarin4341
      @paulsamarin4341 День назад

      One way is the same pattern, but backwards...right? For example, b7 1 5 3 and b7 1 2 3.

    I think we've come far enough in jazz history to see that "jazz tone" is defined by content rather than equipment/accessories. You've beautifully demonstrated that here!

    Nice post! 2 questions... what do you recommend for increasing speed once I learn these tunes? And, how would you look at soloing on them?

    • @jamieholroydguitar
      @jamieholroydguitar 2 дня назад

      Thanks it’s easier to increase speed with a metronome first and then use backing tracks. Continue to increase the speed 5-10bpm. Listen and study the original soloists like Parker and Clifford Brown to learn how to solo over them. Hope this helps!

    The newer Cubes - in my experience- all had unbearable hiss at gig levels. I have never found a closed back amp that does not sound “ nasal” to my ears. Unfortunately the only amp i have found golden- is a twin. Which is… large. I am hoping the upcoming g release of a tone master Bassman might be it. Great demonstration and playing. Ty.

    My Spin on tonewoods. If you are playing without plugging in, sure there are sublte differences. Mahogany vs ash or rosewood vs maple as examples. But IMO. As soon as you plug in, you can get most sounds with amps and pedals and wood type is nonsense. Just my spin. Play Loud 🇦🇺🦘

    I think they both sound incredible, to be honest. Some people really do think that a dark wood fretboard makes a difference. I believe they’re listening more with their eyes.

    Thank you for the perspective! My sonic pathway went the opposite way; starting out with then new digital tech while being the first time in a recording studio, to playing live with tube amps only. Counterintuitive, in a way ;) The main reason for my choice is individual agency: as pointed out in the vid, tube tech, or rather its reactivity allows to sculpt one's tone some more to taste - a more 'accurate' translation of one's playing technique, and in consequence, one's voice. Not speaking about the given quality of the amp's tone, e.g. specific tubes or the general maintenance status, a lesser aspect. This can probably also be achieved with digital or solid state solutions by now, just preferring the simple and direct way, especially when there's no need for vastly different tones during one gig. Regarding maintenance, and again agency, it's likely more feasible to teach oneself even how to fix tube amp issues by oneself, taking advantage of dated tech, rather than being able to repair any of the printed circuits in newer tech a couple years from now. Or having to buy something new to find one's own tone again

    I have a Gibson Les Paul (which I love) but was keen to get a 335. Not wanting to drop the cash on a Gibson 335, I got a 2022 Epiphone 335. Fantastic guitar BUT there wasn’t much tonal difference. Ended up selling the 335 as I prefer the smalller LP body shape. Moral of the story is try both and get the one that resonates with you… or get both if you have the space and money 😅
